Poem For Mario

Sleuth says farewell to Signore Balotelli

Published on February 1st 2013.

Poem For Mario
HERE runs the tale of Mario Balotelli,
Hated by some, loved by many.

"Why always me?" cried the troubled striker,
Maybe because he hurled darts like a sniper.

Maybe because he lit fireworks in his flat,
Or because he dished out twenties in a Santa hat.

He visited schools and seemed nice and friendly,
Yet terrorised Deansgate in a camouflage Bentley.

Alas! He had a scuffle with the boss Mancini,
The situation got heated and really quite steamy.
His City career suddenly went down the pan,
So he tooks his fireworks back to AC Milan.
Arrivederci Mario, as you say in Italian.

No, anon - those who give a darn about this schoolboy need to get a life.

Farewell then, Super Mario.
Or ciao Balotelli.
Some reds said glad to see you go,
But I'll still watch you on the telly.

You paid for petrol for your fans
And set your house on fire.
But after all the 3-match bans,
We knew you would retire.

You stiffed me in a restaurant
For nigh two hundred quid.
Pay me off before you go,
Cheques to EJ Thribb.

January is the cruelest month, breeding darts out of the hypoallergenic grass, driving round Moss Side with wallets full of cash, stirring dull bathrooms with fireworks.
