The 2013 Canal Festival

FREE, waterside mini-fest in Piccadilly Basin

Midday-10pm, Saturday 7 & Sunday 8 September

Top Manchester DJs, blinding local bands, pop-up food stalls, a licensed bar, street art displays, family entertainment, and a float-in cinema...and it's all free.

Canal Fest 2013 is an outdoor mini-festival, held at Brownsfield Mill on Port Street, on the edge of the Northern Quarter, Manchester city centre.

Thousands of people came to last year's festival. It's a free weekend of music, dancing, eating and art - and everyone's invited.

The DJ4
Catch top Manchester DJs including XFM's Clint Boon and Gareth Brooks plus Pasta Paul, Phil Beckett, Leggit, Disco Mums and Dance Lady Dance. Scroll down for the line-up.

The live music
Hear the most exciting local talent playing by the waterside including Thugs on Wolves, Black Lights, Songs for Walter, Horses on the Move and Literature Thieves. Scroll down for the line-up.

The street food
Tuck into Manchester's tastiest street food with stalls from TAKK, Kosmonaut, Ning, Las Paellaras, Streatza, Grandpa Greene’s Ice Cream and a licensed bar from 2022NQ. Gourmet hot dogs, paella, hot noodles, wood-fired pizzas, homemade ice cream, cakes and coffee...come hungry.

The art
See local illustrators and street artists including Barney Ibbotson, Arisu, Generic Greeting and Stephanie Morris creating one-off artworks. The finished pieces will be displayed in 2022NQ bar before being auctioned off for charity Forever Manchester.

The float-in films
Watch films on a canal-side pop-up cinema. Deckchairs, red carpet and snacks complete the outdoor movie experience. Sunday night movie, 8pm, Life of Pi.

The after party
Head to 2022NQ for the official after party on Saturday 7th from 10pm-3am, with Dance Lady Dance and Disco Mums going head-to-head on the decks. Entry is free.

Getting to The Canal Festival

The Canal Festival is a free entry event. It is not ticketed. 

Brownsfield Mill is situated by the Rochdale Canal, close to the Urban Exchange shopping centre (Aldi, M&S Outlet, Go Outdoors and Pure Gym). The entrance to the Canal Festival site is via the Port Street TCCP car park (M1 2EQ) near Great Ancoats Street. All day parking is available on Town Centre Car Parks Dale Street car park for £5.
