East Lancashire Railway
The East Lancashire Railway is a lovingly restored heritage railway offering classic steam and diesel services through rich Lancashire landscapes.
It’s more than just a train ride though with its beautifully preserved vintage décor, Union Jack bunting, restored compartment carriages, 1940s luggage, traditional tickets and uniformed ticket collectors.
It’s a great way of discovering the region’s highlights and hidden gems, hopping on and off the train as often as you like with your full line return ticket.
The trains wind along a stunning 12 mile journey, through tunnels, over viaducts and past the scenery and greenery of the Irwell Valley. At a very leisurely pace and with six stops to choose from along the route, it’s a great way to take in the viaducts and vales, the fluffy sheep and the Friesian cows.
