Bolton's annual food and drink festival has established itself as one of the biggest foodie events in the North West. Set in Bolton Town Centre over August Bank holiday weekend, 2013 visitor figures reached a staggering 130,000!

The festival offers something for everyone, with over 100 speciality food and drink stalls, celebrity chef demos from some of the country's most popular and respected chefs, along with free demos from some of the regions finest, with the added attractions of great children's activities, fantastic street entertainment, live music stages and an arts and crafts market.

Make it ... Magnificent

Lovers of fine dining won't want to miss the spectacular ‘Magnificent Seven' Gala dinner on the Friday evening. Set in the fantastic Cloisters at the Holiday Inn Bolton Centre; 2-star Michelin Chef, Michael Caines will be joined by some of the region's best chefs including Andrew Nutter, Debbie Halls-Evans and Sean Wilson, to serve up a specially prepared seven-course taster menu. With cocktails and nibbles (courtesy of Manchester's very own SoLIta) on arrival and musical entertainment, tickets are just £55 per person.

Make it ... Masterful

Celebrity chef cookery demonstrations take place in the main Festival Marquee on Victoria Square, where an audience of 300 get to watch the masters at work! This year's line-up sees the welcome return of festival favourite James Martin (making his 6th appearance), as well as Gino D'Acampo back in Bolton for a second time. Completing the line-up and attending for the first time, is acclaimed Chef and TV presenter, John Torode.

Tickets are just £5 / £8 (depending on seat allocation) for all three celebrity chef's demos but are selling quickly so book early to avoid disappointment.

Festival Freebies

Free cookery demos also take place each day at the Market Place Shopping Centre Chef Marquee, as well as at the lifestyle hall in Bolton Market (Friday and Saturday only). This year's treats include the fantastic Andrew Nutter, Sean Wilson and, winner of Channel 4's The Taste, Debbie Halls-Evans with more chefs still to be announced. Each chef performs at least 2 demos over the festival weekend; for the full timetable visit.

Make it ... fun

An exciting addition to this year's festival is the all-new Children's Marquee. Children's television favourite Katy Ashworth will be entertaining young food fans every day. Katy, a star of CBeebies, will be performing free 20 minute shows featuring singing, dancing and audience interaction. Shows will be on daily at 11am, 1.15pm and 3.30pm, and include a 30 minute meet and greet for fans straight afterwards. Admission is free but places are limited and must be booked in advance.

Make it ... to the markets

From artisan breads and craft cheeses to fresh fruit and vegetables and unique street food you'll be spoilt for choice at the markets. There's lots of choice so bring plenty of bags, or a strong friend, to carry all your goodies home! Add the fact that KRO bar will be back with its festival bar and SoLIta will be on site too and you'll need to spend the weekend in town just to experience everything. With great live music and family friendly street entertainment completing the picture you'll never want to leave! So what are you waiting for?
