It was awarded 'Best Restaurant' at the Manchester Food and Drink Festival 2010. One of its owner-chefs was named the Good Food Guide's 'Up and Coming Chef of the Year 2010'. And Lancashire Life crowned it 'Lancashire Restaurant of the Year 2010'.

We can't give you details of what you'll be served on the lunch or tasting menu as it changes daily. But we can tell you it will be outstanding.

Chefs Mary-Ellen McTague and Lawrence Tottingham established Aumbry in 2009 after perfecting their culinary skills in establishments such as Heston Blumenthal's The Fat Duck, Good Food Guide-winning Ramsons, and Michelin-starred Sharrow Bay.

Mary-Ellen was trained by Heston Blumenthal but she hasn’t been overwhelmed by his ridiculousness. He has taught her very good procedures which are evident when you taste the food. In Gordo's words, 'It's modern British with flavours like banging drums.'

Lawrence and Mary-Ellen could have gone anywhere in the country but have chosen to put everything they have into a homely cottage ten minutes out of Manchester, which says to Gordo that this is a couple that needs backing.
