Learn to cook with the seasons at 1847

At the 1847 cookery school, our development chef Alex Claridge will teach you how to create great food based around our philosophy of 'what's good now'.

1847's menus change frequently to include ingredients at their prime and available locally - from our gardens, wild and foraged foods, and the best of seasonal British home-grown.

We'll share with you our core techniques and ingredients, then show you how, with a basic repertoire, you can evolve your cooking to suit the best of British any time of year.

Simple and brilliant, you’ll leave with a readily adaptable selection of basics that you can make your own.

Our cookery school is a relaxed and informal affair with a mixture of demonstrations, hands-on cookery, plenty of scoffing and a few glasses of wine.

Dishes covered

British Cheese - cheddar brûlée
Salt-baking & other stories - why salt bake, rescuing root vegetables reputation
Pearl barley & heritage grains - cooking with pearl barley and British heritage grains
Death by chocolate - textures of chocolate and pairing them with wild fruits
Sour cream cheesecake - five minute dessert ready to go

Location: Manchester. Exact location will be confirmed shortly. It will be central and easily accessible.
Dietary requirements: This event will use dairy, eggs & gluten. Please see future events for vegan and free-from cookery days.
