You Beat The Council!! Parking Charge Proposal Dropped!

Councillor Swannick, the architect of the proposals to charge you to park in your city after six and on Sundays, has bowed under pressure from your democratic challenge via www.manchesterconfidential.com ,with your 4,444 emails against his mad proposals; (along with 3,000 from The Manchester Evening News). He does a U-turn and takes a second look. Here is the statement:

"As the overwhelming majority of responses to the consultation from city centre residents, workers, businesses and their customers alike have been hostile to these proposals, I have no hesitation in withdrawing them."

This Publisher’s Father, Roy Garner, taught him that it takes courage for anyone to admit that he is wrong. Councillor Neil Swannick has proven that he is a man; we look forward to working with him in the future to defeat the proposed congestion charges.

I, for one, will be drinking a pint of bitter in the Town Hall Tavern in Neil’s honour at five o’clock this evening. Join me!
