Have you ever fancied getting into TV? I imagine that most of us have considered it at some point, but have dismissed it as just a dream. Only people who can afford to do months of unpaid work can get into TV, right? It’s all about who you know, right?
Wrong. Channel 4 are calling all television hopefuls to apply to take part in a new series, ‘Get me the Producer!’. The six part series will put twelve would be TV workers through their paces, giving them a kick start in the television industry.
The twelve hopefuls will work within a different television genre each week and will be challenged to bring their own ideas to life before one candidate is selected to win a twelve month contract with a top television production company.
The series will be headed up by former BBC director general Greg Dyke who, I assume, knows what he’s talking about.
"It's really important that we have a constant flow of fresh ideas and new talent into the television industry. Unfortunately it's still very difficult for young people to get into the business and there is a feeling that it's 'not what you know, it's who you know',” said Greg Dyke. “I think it's time to change that and if we can find some exciting new talent along the way then I'll be delighted."
If you’re over 18, want to be in TV, and think that you have what it takes, then download an application form for the programme here by August 7th.
