If you’re at a loose end this Sunday, then you could do far worse than dodging the anti-Blair protesters and getting yourself down to the Royal Northern College of Music for a special fund raising concert.
The concert has been organised by The Blue Sky Club to raise funds for the child victims of the recent conflict between Israel and Lebanon on behalf of UNICEF, and will be staged during the Labour Party Conference this Sunday, 24th September between 3.30 and 6.30pm.
Acts taking part in this celebration of ethnic music include legendary African rockers Osibisa, and last year’s X Factor finalist Haifa.
Speakers and performers at the event will include Bianca Jagger, Roger Lloyd Pack of Harry Potter and Only Fools and Horses fame, Europe’s leading Muslim comic Jeff Mirza, Big Issue founder John Bird, and some of the UK’s most senior politicians.
Apparently, British gold medallist High Jumper Dalton Grant will be ‘jumping for peace’ at the concert. I’m not entirely sure what this means, but I’m certainly looking forward to finding out.
All who attend the concert will be invited to a special after show party at the RNCM to celebrate the Big Issue’s 15th anniversary.
