Tom’s Chop House in Line for Top Award

Published on November 17th 2004.

Mr Thomas's Chop House on Cross Street is set to take the top honours in a prestigious award this year as one of the top pubs in the country.
They’re on the brink having already won the regional award ‘Shine Award’ and are now up against 13 other regional finalists for the top national honour! So it’s time for Mancunian pub-goers to stick together, stand up and fight for one of our favourite pubs.
The Shine Awards are Punch breweries’ own reward and recognition scheme that sets out to try and identify retailers whose contribution makes a difference to punters in the area. In short, the owners of Tom’s will get a well deserved award for being generally nice to their punters in an establishment where quality of service is the number one goal. The people who make a difference to your drinking experience deserve some pats on the back occasionally to put up with drunken louts at last orders every night, so now’s your chance!
During 2004 over 1400 pubs were nominated for a Punch Taverns Shine Award and Roger Ward and Steve Pilling have made it through to the final fifteen!
Tom’s Chop House are certainly deserved winners with the opportunity of a decent pint and a friendly and homely atmosphere after a hard day’s work. There’s a certain ‘Cheers’ vibe about the place if you spend enough time in there.
This year’s awards are bigger than last year’s and appear to be growing all the time, with 2,500 new retailers joining Punch from Pubmaster.
Voting is simple, all you need to do is call its only with your help that they will triumph as it will be the national finalist with the most telephone votes that win!!!
So, please support Roger and Steve and help raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care by taking part in the National Telephone Vote. All votes cost £1, with the full £1 being donated to Marie Curie Cancer Care.
