The Reds go retro

Man Utd will be getting all retro this season, with a new 50’s inspired home kit to mark the 50th anniversary of the Busby Babes’ first league championship.

The shirt, designed by Nike, will have a 1950’s style and will carry the logo of the club’s new shirt sponsor, AIG.

The shirt will be revealed on the team’s pre season tour of South Africa which begins today. The whole team, including current public enemy no 1, Christiano Ronaldo, will be in South Africa until the end of July before returning for the start of the new season in August.

Manchester United have recently dismissed any speculation that the Ronaldo will be leaving the club, saying yesterday

"The Club can confirm there is no possibility of Cristiano being sold. He recently signed a new contract until 2010 and the Club fully expects him to honour that contract.

"The Club will not listen to any offers for Cristiano."

Looks like the poor lad will have to come back to England and face the music after all.

The new shirt will go on sale on 27th July, with the away kit available from 24th August.
