Zut alors! Those pesky kids at Manchester Markets have been putting their heads together again, and have come up with yet another speciality market to tempt us away from Weight Watchers for a week.
So far this year we’ve had a virtual tour of Europe without having to leave the city, with the Irish market, the Dutch market and the German market. Next week sees the French Market flown in to corrupt us with delicious French food and drink for every meal of the day.
From September 6th to the 10th, St Ann’s Square will be filled with the sights, sounds and smells of France, as market traders bring their fresh produce to add a little continental flavour to the city.
Food on offer will include French cheese to fresh baguettes, and a delicatessen counter serving olives, dried sausages and delicious spices and mustards. You’ll also be able to get hold of a beautiful French breakfast to set you up for the day.
In addition to the food stalls, there’ll be plenty of Parisian chic on offer in the form of jewellery and watches direct from the capital, and luxury handmade soap from Marseilles.
Councillor Paul Murphy, executive member for markets said: “We are working in partnership to deliver this specialist market, paying close attention to providing high quality goods made in accordance with the French traditions. We will be spoilt for choice, so make sure you enjoy this gourmet extravaganza.”
