Stuck On You: Post It Note Campaign Spreads The Love

MANCHESTER residents have hit back at rioters with peaceful post-it note messages of support for the city.

Adam Lance Brookes, 23, from Prestwich, came up with the idea after seeing the same thing in Peckham, London. “I wanted people to be able to express themselves and I thought this would be a good way for them to get their views across and show how much we love our city,” he said.

“I feel angry and ashamed because they’ve destroyed our city."

The post-its were originally stuck outside Foot Asylum, which was looted heavily and is still boarded up from the front, but Manchester Arndale liked the idea so much that they let Adam move them inside.

Well done to all teams in the Manchester Arndale and a big thanks to all who live in the Manchester area and all the surrounding areas. Together we care and are one big family. Well done everybody.”

Another read: “The greatest city in the greatest country on earth. Peace.”

Becky Hayward, from Hulme, and her two daughters were keen to add to the wall. “We just want to say how top Manchester is and show our support,” she told Confidential..

Sophie Lidyard from Middleton and her two friends, all aged fifteen, can’t understand why people her age would do this. “I feel angry and ashamed because they’ve destroyed our city,” she said.

There were even messages written in foreign languages and one family from Holland had put: “Stay strong and you will get through the hard and mindless times.”

People can post messages inside the Arndale all weekend, and the centre is also hoping shoppers are encouraged to come into the city.
