Stars and lights at the Trafford Centre’s switch-on show

It was a no-show for Jordan and Peter Andre at the Trafford Centre’s Christmas light switch-on event. Not to worry, we still have plenty of celeb gossip from the night…

Stars and lights at the Trafford Centre’s switch-on show

Excited fans of Jordan and Peter Andre were left disappointed when the couple failed to turn up to the Trafford Centre’s Christmas lights switch-on show last week.

The pop prince and his big bosomed princess were due to perform their new single, A Whole New World, taken from Disney’s Aladdin film, but (un?)fortunately for all involved were unable to attend due to a mystery illness that had struck the pair down in Rome.

But the celebrity mine is endless, and the Trafford Centre dug deep to provide the public with plenty more stars of tv and pop eager to rally to the cause.

Acts to perform on the stage in the Orient were (deep breath) opera boy band G4, ex Busted Matt Willis, Upper Street (Danes Bowers’ new offering), Lil’ Chris, Coronation Street hot stuff Richard Fleeshman and Shaun Rodgerson from X Factor.

The Fleeshmeister’s fans were kept at bay by extra security staff until girlfriend Roxanne came along to mark her territory. Richard was seen to literally push through the crowd and sweep her up in his arms. Altogether now… ‘aaah’.

Behind the scenes reports from the night reveal Dane Bowers to be a bit of a softy, being rather taken with the Trafford Centre’s Barney the Bear. The rest of the Upper Street boys however apparently seemed to love themselves (and the sounds of their vocal chords) just a wee bit too much. Perhaps that’s why they arrived an hour and a half late. Allegedly.

Other celebrities to make an appearance were Ben and Lisa from Hollyoaks, and Coronation Street’s Fred Elliot. Marcus, who plays heart throb Ben, was super cool and sped up to the Trafford Centre in his BMW two minutes before he was due onstage. The lovely Gemma however (Lisa) stayed around for ages talking to fans and having her photograph taken.

So nobody really missed Jordan and Peter, not least Jordan’s ex Dane Bowers, who had some rather interesting comments to make about her by all accounts. For anybody really desperate to see them however, they have promised to make an appearance in the near future.
