Re-thinking Taxis in Manchester

IF taxi travel leaves you feeling out-of-pocket and out-of-sorts, here's some good news. Black cab company Mantax is on a mission to raise standards in their firm and in the wider taxi world. As Manchester's largest fleet of traditional black cabs, they can set the tone for taxi travel in the city – when they act, others will follow.

So what's on the agenda? Most importantly, safety. All Mantax black cabs are computer tracked for your peace of mind and all their drivers are CRB checked. Each driver is also trained to behave in a professional manner at all times – so no speeding, no getting lost, and no making up the fare off the top of their head.

This professionalism is reflected in their chauffeur-style uniforms and in their helpful manner, making them a popular choice for corporate customers who need to maintain a good image with clients. Many of Manchester's major media, sport, banking and public sector organisations have accounts with Mantax.

Next, cost. Fares are standard – they're set by Manchester City Council – but black cab travel is often cheaper than you think. Mantax will give you a fixed price before you travel on request, so you don't have to nervously watch the meter rising. And you can pay by card in all their vehicles.

Mantax black cabs seat up to six people with luggage so they can work out cheaper than mini-cabs.

The app is a real innovation in the taxi world –  it has an iHail feature that sends a black cab to your GPS location, and it lets you save your most-used journeys and locations. You can track your taxi's journey to you on a smartphone map, find the nearest rank, and get fare estimate for future journeys.

All welcome improvements for taxi users. And contrary to popular belief, you don't have to hang around on the street waiting for one of these super cabs to drive by.

You can pre-book a Mantax black cab by calling 0161 230 3333, by using the Smartphone Booker, or by using their taxi web booker.
