Racial Insults And Stabbing In The City Centre

A MAN was stabbed after being racially abused in Manchester city centre.

The victim was not only racially abused but received a nasty three inch wound

Just before 4am on Friday 14 June 2013, the 22-year-old man was stood on the corner of Whitworth Street at its junction with Bugle Street, opposite Deansgate Locks, talking to two friends.

A car, described as a silver BMW 3 series estate with a 07 reg, pulled up at the junction and the passenger leant out of the window, racially abusing the victim.

He walked over to the car to challenge the man and was stabbed in the left forearm with a knife, similar to a Stanley knife.  The car then drove off towards Fairfield Street.

The passenger is described as being Asian, in his mid to late 20s, of medium build, had short black hair, dark eyes, slightly bushy eyebrows, stubble on his face and wore dark jeans.

The driver is described as being Asian or of mixed race, in his mid 20s, of slim build, had short black hair, stubble on his face and wore dark jeans.

Chris Ronan based at Bootle Street Police Station said: “The victim was not only racially abused but received a nasty three inch wound that needed hospital treatment and nine stitches.

“We have looked through CCTV images and believe we have captured the car just before the assault driving on Hewitt Street travelling from Deansgate railway station. Witnesses tell us that that the BMW had alloy wheels, the driver’s window was tinted and the rear windows were darker, preventing the inside of the car being seen.

“I would urge people to take a good look at the images of the car and if they recognise them or witnessed the attack itself, please contact us.”
