POLICE officers investigating an armed robbery at a pawnbrokers in Cheetham Hill release an image of the getaway car.
This was a brazen robbery in broad daylight, thankfully no-one was injured, but the staff have been left terrified by the incident.
It happened between 9.45am and 10am on Friday 21 June 2013 when four men armed with axes and hammers stormed into the shop in Cheetham Hill shopping centre.
Three of the men smashed the jewellery cabinets and scooped out the gold while one man stood at the entrance holding open the shutter.
They all ran out of the shop into a black Skoda Octavia with the registration plate X167 FBU which they had parked on Thomas Street.
Detective Constable Nick Boardman from North Manchester division, said: “This was a brazen robbery in broad daylight, thankfully no-one was injured, but the staff have been left terrified by the incident.
“There were a lot of people in the area on Friday morning who must have witnessed the robbery. I would urge them to contact us.
“I also want to hear from anyone who saw the offenders get into the getaway car or it being abandoned as well as anyone who might be offered the jewellery for sale.”Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
