Octopus Health arrives – 25% off

City centre work and play keeps the doctor away

Octopus Health arrives – 25% off

You live in the city centre. You’re ill. You don’t have time to go to the doctors because you’d have to predict that you were going to be ill 3 weeks in advance in order to get an appointment. And even then it’s a trek and a half to get there. And last but not least, you have ready money.

Octopus Health is the largest primary health care clinic outside the National Health Service, and it’s in Manchester on St Anns Square. The name Octopus represents the many tentacles of health care available, all under one roof.

Having remortgaged his house to raise £500,000 to launch Octopus Health, Physiotherapist and Clinic Director, John Spencer has high hopes for the clinic.

He said, “What we’re trying to do is joined up health care with having lots of clinicians together. The Docs in the Gay Village is the only NHS GP surgery in the city centre and it turns away many people every week. This leaves two thirds of city centre residents without access to local GP provision.”

Backed by experienced Manchester GP Dr Cath White, the clinic offers nearly 40 specialist clinicians ranging from podiatrists to physiotherapists, acupuncturists and orthopaedic surgeons.

Dr Cath White said, “I have worked as a GP in city centre Manchester for a number of years now and have seen the enormous growth in the urban population of what has become the second city. The problem now is that people are either too busy to take time out of their day to go to their GP or- if living in the city- find that existing practices, though still accepting patients are plainly oversubscribed.”

Octopus Health offers patients a range of conventional and complementary medicine, suitable for hippies and yuppies alike. At what is said to be an affordable price, for a private clinic, a half hour appointment with the GP will cost £95 and a physiotherapy session is £36. Depends what people mean by affordable of course.

The open day for Octopus Health is Friday 20 April between 10am-6pm. Any appointments booked on this day will include a 25% discount. Even if you’re a vision of health it’s fun to go down there and check out the best furnished medical clinic you might ever see.
