Networking Skills Course in Manchester

For PR types, high profile professionals and sales executives 'networking' is a bigger buzz word than 'spritzer' or 'targets'. For those of us, not so hot on building relations, networking provides flashbacks of being anonymous at school and lunchtimes spent in the cloakroom reading Paul Danziger novels (or was that just me?)

But networking is what we need to do to succeed in business and well life, really, if we are ever to move forward and progress.

It's a bit like throwing yourself back into the dating game after years of being in a familiar relationship with one partner or more depressingly - years of abstinence. It's the fear of the unknown. Where do you go to meet people? Who makes the first move? What's my opening line? What's my body language saying? Should I be the one to arrange our next encounter or will I look desperate? This isn't to suggest that you go in for a full smack on the lips at your business convention but dating and networking operate on the same principle - It's learning the art of interaction as well as the do's, and more importantly, the dont's.

In the most respectable way possible it's all about putting yourself about a bit.

As daunting as this all seems, networking doesn't have to be a word conjured up by Satan himself. It's a social skill and skills can be learnt providing they are taught and practiced. Why it was never put on the GCSE syllabus instead of Craft, is beyond me. A parent would be far more elated to have their child arrive home from school with a little black book crammed full of contacts in industry, than a garden gnome.

Fortunately for adults, it's never too late to learn as Total Excellence Centre are on hand to cure us of our stage fright by running an Open/Public Course on Networking Skills on June 6. Established in 1992, Total Excellence Centre has a proven track record in providing training solutions to individuals and organisations, nationally and internationally.

The Networking Skills Course aims to help people understand what prevents them from approaching business events with ease and enthusiasm and what can be done to make the situation comfortable or even fun.

It's for anyone who wants to maximise their business potential in the hope that by the end of the course they will have acquired the techniques to walk into a room full of complete strangers and walk out with a room full of prospective clients.

Just imagine… there could be a time in the future when you've nailed this networking thing and people are instantly targeting you as a source of information and contacts. Oh the power.
