Mick Rocks for free!

Published on December 14th 2005.

Urbis have gone all giddy and opened the doors to their Mick Rock exhibition for free this Christmas time.

The world has enough scrooges around at this time of year so it’s good to see the Urbis giving something back, and it’s an exhibition that’s well worth a visit.

So if you fancy taking a break from the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping, you can just dive into Urbis on Exchange Square to view Rock n Roll Icons; The Photography of Mick Rock for absolutely nothing between 20th December and 31 January (usual price £5).

Rock 'n' Roll Icons; The Photography of Mick Rock gives a glimpse into the portfolio of one of the most prolific music photographers of all time. His work adorns countless album covers, posters and magazines. Mick Rock's work with seminal rock artists David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, Queen and Syd Barrett gained him the titles of 'the man who shot the 70s' and the 'photo-laureate of glam'. The exhibition includes recent works with supermodel Kate Moss and bands such as Kasabian and the Killers and features previously unseen images and video footage, out-takes and personal interviews.
