Manchester Midnight Walk

Celebs are set to take part in the most bizarre Manchester fund raising event…and so can you!

Published on March 12th 2007.

Manchester Midnight Walk

For most of us, wandering the streets of Manchester in the middle of the night normally means that we’re on the hunt for a taxi after a few too many vodkas. But on May 25th, sports people, celebrities and sober people everywhere will join together for a 10k midnight walk, to raise money for charity.

The Manchester Midnight Walk is destined to be one of the most spectacular and unusual fund raising events of the year, involving over 1,000 people.

The trek, which will raise valuable funds for St Ann’s Hospice, will begin and end at the City of Manchester Stadium and take in several city-centre landmarks along the way.

Celebrities to have pledged their support to date include Dave Spikey, Tupele Dorgu, Nikki Sanderson, and Manchester City first team players Georgios Samaras, Ishmael Miller and Ousmane Dabo.

Terry McDonnell, chief executive of St Ann’s Hospice, said: “St Ann’s has organised some memorable events in the past but it is unlikely there will have ever been anything quite as spectacular as the Manchester Midnight Walk.

“We’d like as many people as possible to take part and experience it - while helping to raise money for those living with life-threatening illnesses in Greater Manchester. It will be an event not to be missed.”
