Manchester Kids Week

Published on November 29th 2005.

We all know a child who is excited about Christmas this year, and doing their very best to be good for a few weeks in the hope that Santa will forget about all of the naughty things they have done this year and bring them some presents (well, he is getting on a bit, surely his memory can't be that great). For some children in Manchester however, who are suffering from neglect, abuse and poverty, this Christmas might not be quite as jolly.

Next week is Manchester Kids week 2005, with charity events going on throughout the city all in the name of raising money for underprivileged children in Manchester. Kicking off on December 5th with a sponsored zip slide across the City of Manchester stadium, there will be special events every day and an on air auction to raise money for Manchester Kids, the official charity of Key 103 and Magic 1152.

The week commences bright and early on Monday morning, when Key 103's breakfast team attempt a Krypton Factor style zip slide across Manchester City 's home ground at 8 o' clock in the morning. Think you're up to the challenge? If you fancy joining in the fun, and raising some money for the kids, you can register by e-mailing zip@key103.co.uk . It's £30 to register, and you must pledge to raise £200.

On December 9th, there will be a massive on air auction of exclusive items from a Jamie Cullum signed piano to a trip to New York. Items are online now at www.manchesterkids.com so that you can decide which items to bid for on the day.
