Manchester Confidential wins brand award

Some smug buggers use awards as an excuse for night out

Manchester Confidential wins brand award

Urbis. Tuesday. Success. Manchester Confidential triumphed in one of the categories at the awards of the North West Top 100 Brands and came second in another. These were organised through the How-Do media website and Hill Dickinson lawyers in association with the Confederation of British Industry and the Chartered Institute of Marketing. The results came through an independent survey.

Only four brand awards were deemed suitable for actually handing to the winners rather than being read out. These were Most Innovative, won by Urban Splash, Most Respected, won by The Co-operative Bank, Top North West Brand, won by Urban Splash again, and obviously the one everybody was waiting for, the One to Watch. The winner was - drumroll please, lights, camera - Manchester Confidential.

The picture shows the co-founder of Manchester Confidential Andrew Mullet receiving the award, the chairman Howard Sharrock, the editor Jonathan Schofield, and a smiling and gorgeous Sir Howard Bernstein, Manchester City Council, Chief Executive.

We also came joint second with the MEN in the Media, Creative Industries and Digital Industries Award. ITV Granada won.

The awards underline the remarkable growth this year of Confidential. Confidential has presently 211,200 readers per month and around a million page views. By adding content and sticking our neck out, taking things up rather than dumbing down, we’ve almost doubled readership. At the same time we feature incredible competitions and offers. Liverpool Confidential is forging ahead as well.
