MCR Police Reports: 9-15 June

Here at Confidential we get a constant stream of reports, releases and updates from Greater Manchester Police. This is a small selection of the reports received so far this week, not all of them.

Some do make for depressing reading but it's worth remembering that Greater Manchester has a population of 2.6m and that recent figures show crime rates have fallen across both the region and the country.

Saturday 14 June: Tributes paid to Parklife victim

As police continue to appeal for witnesses to the fatal assault of Robert Hart, 26, at the Parklife Weekender on Saturday 7 June, Hart's family released this message:

Robert, Bobby, Uncle Bob, different names to different people, but to friends and family and everyone who knew Robert, he was simply “awesome".

Robert had a love of music and a love of life.

From playing his guitar and singing along full pelt to Blue Moon, to rocking up and working at concerts and festivals year after year wearing wellies in the rain and shades in the sunshine.

Robert loved travelling across the world always with his guitar and city shirt but always followed his Hart home to mum.

Robert had a positive attitude to life, always smiling and full of compassion.

Robert meant everything to his girlfriend Gemma. He was her absolute world and could turn her tears into smiles in an instant.

In one mindless moment the Hart has been ripped out of our family. Robert will never watch his beloved Manchester City play football.

Never wear any of his 91 pairs of trainers or light up a room with his smile.

Never will he have a chance to dote on a child of his own as he did his nephews and nieces

Four siblings have now become three.

Friday 13 June: Police appeal for witnesses after newlyweds arrested at Hilton

Detectives investigating an incident at a hotel in Manchester that resulted in a newly married couple being arrested are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The couple, aged 25s and 29, have been bailed until July pending further enquiries.

Detective Constable Tim Hanson, said: “This young couple had a wedding night they will never forget, sadly for them it was for all the wrong reasons.

“Clearly something has happened at the hotel that has sparked an incident and while we have a number of accounts from both sides we are keen to trace any independent witnesses who may have seen the incident.

“I am certain seeing an incident involving a couple in full wedding attire will stick in the mind so if you were at the hotel or nearby and saw what happened or spoke to anyone involved please call us.”

It is believed that in the image below the offender can be seen kicking the man in the head.

The victim suffered a large facial injury as a result of the attack.

Chief Inspector Gary Simpson said: “It is a shame that such a well-attended event is marred by the actions of a few individuals intent on inflicting violence upon other people.

“The overwhelming majority of young people attending this event were good natured and well behaved and we will do all we can to find the people who were responsible for these terrible acts of violence.”
