Here at Confidential we get a constant stream of reports, releases and updates from Greater Manchester Police. This is a small selection of the reports received so far this week, not all of them.

Some do make for depressing reading but it's worth remembering that Greater Manchester has a population of 2.6m and that recent figures show crime rates have fallen across both the region and the country.

Two men have been jailed for stabbing to death a teenager in Wythenshawe following a re-trial.

In the early hours of Monday 14 June, Wilhelm became aggressive with the group and said that someone had stolen his cannabis and mobile phone. Sometime before 3am Wilhelm demanded that the men present take their trousers off to show they were not hiding anything.

While others did this, John refused and got into a struggle with Wilhelm. Ellis joined in to help Wilhelm. Screaming was heard from outside the house.

Police and paramedics attended and John was taken to hospital for treatment to a single stab wound to his chest. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

At about 2.45am on Sunday 8 June 2014 a man was walking on Quay Street, near to Walkabout bar, when he bumped into a man who was walking past him. An argument ensued and the man lunged at the victim, pushing him to the ground, before biting him on the face and leaving.

Detective Constable Robert Corbishley of North Manchester Division, said:

“We can say that a woman has died in sudden and tragic circumstances and we are determined to find out what led up to this.

“We have arrested two people in connection with the death and this will allow us to interview them under caution and to get full accounts from them.

“We have already spoken to a number of neighbours and this will continue throughout the day. As a result, residents will see an increased police presence in the area and we trust they will be reassured by this.
