The biggest free entertainment event Manchester has ever seen hits the city soon! Sky Festival will be taking place in Manchester from 11th to 13th August with 31 channels hosting 36 exciting events in the heart of the city centre.

Go online now for information on the biggest free entertainment event Manchester has ever seen! Sky Festival will be taking place in Manchester from 11th to 13th August with 31 channels hosting 36 exciting events in the heart of the city centre. Join in with the action and click on Sky Festival’s website www.skyfestival.co.uk.

All events for Sky Festival are free but for about a third of the events you will need to make sure you have a ticket as there are limited seats available due to venue restrictions. Simply go online to www.skyfestival.co.uk and click on the event you would like a ticket for, follow the easy step by step instructions and the tickets will be delivered to your doorstep. Alternatively you can collect your tickets from the Sky Festival information point which will be constructed in Albert Square one week before Sky Festival.

Culture, Food & News
Join Sky News for the chance to read the headlines at Piccadilly Station. Stroll to Sky Travel’s Caribbean beach café at Albert Square where you can enjoy a soothing head massage, or absorb yourself in all things French with TV5 Monde at the Alliance FranVaise de Manchester. UKTV Food is in Piccadilly Gardens, where Brian Turner will create some tasty nosh from Manchester’s farmers market. Budding singers, actors and dancers make your way to the Lowry where Artsworld will be hosting workshops by English National Opera, English National Ballet, and The Chicken Shed Theatre Company, along with a performance by English National Opera’s Young Singers and English National Ballet. And finally, Star Plus presents a South Asian spectacular at The Bridgewater Hall, with the finest in Star artists, dance and performances.

Film
If you are just as mad about films as we are, you won’t be able to take your eyes off the screen at Sky Festival. Sky Movies is at the AMC Cinema in the Great Northern Centre celebrating the magic of movies with free screenings of a selection of their favourite films and a special opening night reception set to bring movie magic to life. To celebrate TCM's Summer Under the Stars Season, airing on the channel this August, TCM presents classic films voted for by the people of Manchester in the stylish surroundings of Deansgate's Revolution bar. There will also be a film memorabilia and poster show and you can win some film-fantastic goodies in the TCM film quiz.

Come and join Cartoon Network, Playhouse Disney and Nick Jr. for a fun packed weekend of activities. Join in with Nick Jr. and treat the kids to a great family day out in Cathedral Gardens with a fantastic interactive show featuring LazyTown. Cartoon Network will be hosting a toon party in Piccadilly Gardens where you can hang out with all your favourite stars including Scooby-Doo and Mac and Bloo from Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends. Come along to the Trafford Centre and enchant your kids with the chance to meet characters from Playhouse Disney and to listen to one of the Disney Princesses reading their story in the magic Disney Playhouse garden.

Be inspired by The Sky Sports Trophy Room in the Town Hall with a collection of some of the world’s top sporting trophies, bowl yourself over to Castlefield Arena as Sky Sports brings you the NatWest Cricket Roadshow. Enjoy the thrills of the casino and bid in Vegas auctions with Sky Vegas at Hotel Rossetti. Living for Sport presents Dame Kelly Holmes and a street dance spectacular, and for the true footy nut, join the ESPN Classic penalty shoot-out at the Sports Café or head for Old Trafford with MUTV and Man Utd Soccer Schools to sharpen your overall footie skills. Inspired by the Tour de France, Manchester will be hosting a “Tour de Manchester” – a fab cycle ride round the city with Eurosport. It’s thrills and spills all the way with FX and their Sharp Shooting event at Trafford Centre . Finally, taste the adrenalin rush as Sky Sports brings A1 Grand Prix to the city where you can tour a racing paddock and be a part of the A1 Grand Prix parade as the cars come to the streets of Manchester.
