Gary Neville's United Fun Palace

Story breaks of a United visitor centre and hotel at Old Trafford

Gary Neville's United Fun Palace

THE MEN have got a good story here

Apparently ex-United player Gary Neville has teamed up with the Old Trafford Supporters Club to deliver a 139 bedroom hotel on that scruffy bit of land between Sir Matt Busby Way and Wharfside Way bordering the Bridgewater Canal. Apparently the Sky Sports pundit will be using money from his testimonial match in May to help fund the project.

The site is presently the domain of souvenir and burger stalls.

The 80,000 plus sq ft plans incorporate a canal side area exclusively for use by the supporters featuring capacity for more than a 1000 fans, screens for match viewing, and bar areas and restaurants plus a club shop.

The area around Manchester United is desperately short of places for fans to have a drink before and after games so maybe some of that pressure will be relieved by this new venture.

The building will be decked out completely in light blue and white.

Only joking.

It'll be a festival of red, white and black of course.

Confidential wonders if the Stretford End's song for Gary Neville and his passionate attitude to all things Liverpool will prevent our Merseyside friends from staying over or applying for jobs.

Story "breaks"? Red Nev said this was his plan back months ago after his testimonial. It was hardly a secret.

Most players donate their testimonial income to charity!! Good old Gary feathers his own nest - abject greed.
