GMP ‘Wanted’ List: Do You Know Any Of These People?

A ‘wanted’ list of more than 20 suspected criminals has been released by Greater Manchester Police.

The suspects are believed to have committed a range of offences from serious assaults to thefts and criminal damage. Their faces have been circulated throughout the force but officers now need the public’s help to trace them. See the list below.

PC Sean Downey, based at Bootle Street police station, said: "Some of these offences may seem relatively petty, but I can assure you that for each offence there is a victim of crime.

"In some cases, businesses have found themselves out of stock when items have been stolen and in others ordinary members of the public have been pick pocketed or attacked.

"In probably the most serious offence, a man had part of his ear bitten off in what appears to be an unprovoked attack.

"What we want now is for people to take a look at all of the images and tell us if you recognise the person in it.

"If you do think you know any of the individuals, then please make a note of the picture number and call the following appeal line, 0161 856 3221. Alternatively call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

Hmm not 'most wanted', just 'wanted'.

the Whalley RangerMarch 12th 2013.

I must agree, this is questionable brainwash-type content - do we really need to deter the underclass from further lootings?
Is that ManCon's target audience nowadays?

Absolutely Whalley Ranger. How can we be sure what mental state this women could of been in? Did she steal St John's Wort or Natracalm? I hope her hair is nice after her shampoo. Violent crimes, I agree, CCTV is beneficial, but this I find "The Sun" lynch mob territory. It uglifies Manchester Confidential.

Even then! I live in the City centre and hear of far more substantial crimes every day! Agree with the officer - it does seem PETTY!

Well, if someone stole my mobile phone I'd be pleased if the police caught them via CCTV images. That's the whole point of CCTV, petty crime or substantial crime.

you are right! hard to take this crime that seriously when it's a celebrity look alike for a minor shoplifting offence. I say ring Los Angeles and call her agent. Still could be Winona Ryder... I believe she stole from shops!

on a different level, does GMP just put a female criminal on lists to balance out the wanted lists? A bit tokenistic for a rogues gallery! I'm sure there are other 'bad' women to choose from!

I just have an issue where no-one is seriously hurt/ individually suffering, to plaster the images all over the internet.

Costly, unnecessary and random to target such people in a "show and shame" parade. CCTV culture should not be exploited for relatively benign and low level offences such as number 6. It damages the serious crimes that can be helped by such exposure. Such over exposure then will generate an apathy to even look at such lists or for the public to take 'crime' lists as seriously. Reserve such lists for dangerous criminals please!!!!!!!!!!!
