METROLINK has partnered up with Manchester Pride 2013 and is offering free City Zone travel for wristband holders to promote safe travel around the city centre during Pride.
"Take the weight off those heels, wave those wristbands and hop on board."
Pride wristband wearers travelling outside the city centre can also purchase a Weekend Travelcard, which has been specially extended for them to include free travel on Bank Holiday Monday.
Manchester Pride Patron, Christopher Biggins, has been promoting the free City Zone travel offer for wristband holders. He even donned a Metrolink uniform to prepare for his role as a Passenger Services Representative (PSR) in training for the Big Weekend.
Christopher Biggins said: “Visitors to Manchester Pride will be thrilled. Metrolink is a fabulous, fun and safe way to travel across the city, so take the weight off those heels, wave those wristbands and hop on board.”
Christopher Biggins Peter Cushing, Metrolink Director for Transport for Greater Manchester, added: “It is wonderful news that we have renewed our partnership with Manchester Pride, supporting Manchester’s LGBT community not only with secure travel during Pride but also its impressive charitable contributions.
“It was a pleasure working with Manchester Pride Patron Christopher Biggins, who did a great job shadowing Metrolink team members on the tram stops.”

Why not give free travel this weekend for people who have to endure metrolink all year?
Can't understand this. If Metrolink do it for Pride they should do it for every festival. Let's hope they do it for Manchester Food and Drink Festival as well. People can purchase a wristband for that charity for burnt out catering folk and then get the free travel.
No..Would have to PAY me to use the tram any more than I need to these days....
So, is traveling around the city centre especially dangerous these days? Is it just this weekend that it is dangerous, or is it only dangerous for people wearing orange wristbands?
