First Look at MIF Square

THE first moments of Manchester International Festival took place last night as the festival 'hub' opened for a sneak peak.

There's also a menu from Paul Heathcote plus the best street food operators in the UK.

Home to the Pavilion Theatre, Festival Pavilion, an outdoor stage, the Glass House, Roof Terrace, a large seated area (with picnic benches and sun loungers) and the MIF box office, Festival Square is taking over Manchester's Albert Square from the 4 to 21 July.

The festival square will host two free performances a day on the outdoor stage, a 500-capacity indoor theatre and free nightly DJs in the tall white pavillion (wigwam).

Christine Cort, Managing Director of MIF, said, "You can hang out in the Festival Pavilion, in the Glass House or on the Roof Terrace - we have one of the largest outdoor seating areas in the city. There's also a menu from Paul Heathcote plus the best street food operators in the UK."

Festival Square is open daily throughout the festival, from noon until late. Meaning you can go soak up some festival atmosphere even if you don't have any tickets.
