Employ a graduate and bank £1000

It sounds too good to be true, but you can get paid to hire a graduate

Employ a graduate and bank £1000

For a business, getting paid to hire an employee seems too good to be true. But this is exactly the deal Manchester Metropolitan University has on offer.

MMU will give £1,000 to businesses that employ a graduate for a short-term placement.

Businesses get the chance to hire an eager and intelligent graduate who is enthusiastic and can provide a new perspective.

So far, graduates who have been taken on through the scheme have helped to get sidelined projects of the ground, developed new customer initiatives and brought new ideas and thinking to the business.

The scheme is aimed at businesses with fewer than 50 employees and relieves smaller businesses of the costs of taking on another worker.

It is also directed at companies with more than 50 employees that deal with low carbon products and service, digital industries, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, advanced manufacturing, professional or financial services, engineering production and opportunities presented by an ageing society.

Graduates attend a seven-day course run by MMU and Blue Orchid, a company that helps develop businesses, to help them maximise their talents and prepare for employment.

MMU and Blue Orchid also provide structured support for companies that employ a graduate, helping them to prepare and supporting them throughout.

The scheme is an great and rare opportunity to truly benefit from added help, while also giving someone the chance to develop their abilities.
