As Ear to the Ground events agency bask in the glory of their success at Liverpool’s Capital of Culture celebrations this weekend they begin their quest to find the perfect people to join their growing team.

Ear to the Ground is an events agency that conceives, produces and promotes live events using its understanding of contemporary culture. In the last four years they have produced some of the most exciting launches and events in the Northwest and throughout the UK and Europe.

They are always looking to be innovative and dynamic and partner with clients so they can take risks, create standout, make noise and essentially enjoy what they do.

Dull people don’t work with them.

In the last 6 months the team has delivered events and event strategies for companies such as Topshop, Citroen, Esprit and innovative property developers like Urban Splash and West as well as running their own events including Dpercussion. This week they had a huge success as the lead agency producing last weekend’s launch of the Liverpool Capital of Culture year for a global audience.

Job specification – New Business Development

Salary: Dependent on experience
Location: Manchester and London
Job term: Permanent/full time
Hours: 10.00-18.00
Deadline: 28th January

We require someone full of ideas and energy to help develop and deliver a new business strategy. This will involve opening new areas of operation for the company and helping build relationships with new clients who see events and ‘live experience’ marketing as an integral part of their communications strategy.

This role will involve:

Essential skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • The ability to build relationships with a wide range of individuals
  • Good project management skills & well organised
  • Strong computer literacy (MOS and ppt competency)
  • Excellent numeracy skills and the ability to oversee pitch / project budgets
  • Experience in winning business / account handling


  • 2 years min sales / new business / account handling experience required
  • Face to face sales experience essential
  • Proven ability in attracting / managing new clients
  • An understanding of brand and agency culture


  • Develop a strategy with ETTG directors to build new business
  • Build relationships with brands / agencies and corporate clients
  • Identify client needs
  • Work with designers to develop credentials and pitch presentations
  • Generate new leads, qualify leads, set up & attend new business meetings
  • Develop client relationships, maintain customer contact / sales activity
  • Liaise effectively with project managers and work colleagues
  • Generate in kind and cash sponsorship deals to support ETTG events

This role is both office and field based so candidates must be Manchester based but able to travel frequently around the North of England with regular visits to our London office. Ideally you will have a full, clean UK driving licence.
