The MEN have reported today that the stars of Coronation Street and ITV executives will have to go without their annual Christmas bash this year.
The black tie do, which costs £20,000 a year and is normally held at the town hall, will not take place because ITV chief Simon Shaps has presumably realised that £20,000 is a hell of a lot of money, and could probably be put to better use than feeding the hangovers of a bunch of overpaid soap stars.
The MEN quote a Coronation Street source as saying that “the cast saw the company getting the food and drinks as a reward for their efforts throughout the year.” Perhaps the cast struggle to afford their own food and drink on their six figure salaries. It must be tough.
Don’t feel too sorry for them though, as the cast and crew will be having their Christmas bash at a city centre bar instead of the town hall. Phew. Hopefully it won’t spoil their Christmases too much.
