NEW MUM Catherine Cunningham gave birth to non–identical triplets without IVF treatment four months ago, a rare condition that only has a one in 25,000 chance of happening. After a twelve week scan, Catherine and husband Brendan were astonished to be told they were expecting three babies who were born by caesarean at St Mary’s Hospital. Four months on and already parents to daughter Eva, Catherine and Brendan are adjusting to new family of six just fine.

WESLEY Isherwood, 27 has been charged with murder after Brian Gavigan was found dead at a house on Sunday 4 September on Merton Road, Bury. A post – mortem examination found that the forty eight – year - old father’s death was due to several injuries to his head and body. Isherwood is due before magistrates later today.

THE world’s longest running television drama; Coronation Street is relocating from central Manchester to Salford, across the water from MediaCityUK. Corrie stars William Roache and Michelle Keegan took part in constructing the new home recently, expected to be completed by spring 2013.

CHARGES against Stepping Hill Hospital nurse Rebecca Leighton were dropped last week after six weeks in custody accused for the deaths of three hospital patients. During her time at Stepping Hill, a higher number of patients were reported to have “unexplained” low blood sugar levels. The Crown Prosecution Service has explained that there’s not enough evidence to charge her, but investigations still continue. Rebecca has asked publicist Max Clifford to help clear her name.

This week in 1766 John Dalton was born. Pioneer of atomic theory, he was President of Manchester’s Lit & Phil Society for 28 years. His eyes are kept in a jar in the Museum of Science and Industry (see picture above) – he discovered colour blindness. Aye aye as the archivists say in the museum.

Dalton thought he was colour deficient because the inside of his eye ball might be coloured, so asked his doctor to cut it and check it out after he dies.
The doctor did it, but could not find anything inside. Later, scientists did a DNA analysis with it and found Dalton was indeed deuteranope...
