A PENSIONER, 72 stabbed an intruder to death at his florist in Old Trafford but will not be charged. Shop keeper Cecil Coley was confronted by Gary Mullings, 30 as he locked up his shop on Shrewsbury Street. Mr Coley was injured and his friend knocked unconscious as Mullings and another intruder forced their way inside. The Crown Prosecution Service have decided Coley will not face charges as he acted in a reasonable self - defence way he felt was necessary.

ALMOST ten years have passed since the 9 / 11 terror attacks and to mark its anniversary, a union jack recovered from the wreckage of the World Trade Centre will go on display at the Imperial War Museum North. The two – metre wide flag will go on display on Saturday followed by a live link – up performance of two composed orchestral pieces from Wake Forest University in North Carolina on Sunday.

AN UNNAMED medical student has lost her memory stick which contained personal data of 87 patients from a Manchester hospital.  While on a placement at the hospital’s burns and plastics department, the medical student copied the data onto a personal unencrypted memory stick, who had not undergone data protection training, despite saying she had.

POLICE are on the hunt for Daniel McDonagh in connection with a £20M fraud conspiracy. The 23 year old is wanted for hijacking high profile businesses deceptively ordering millions of pounds’ worth of goods. McDonagh also failed to answer court bail for a separate offence.

This week in 1906 Victoria Baths opened in Manchester, described as ‘probably the most splendid municipal bathing institution in the country’.
