TWENTY thousand people packed Albert Square to watch the Christmas lights be turned on in Manchester.
Guest included Tinchy Stryder and Nicola Roberts together with the Lord Mayor.
Cllr Pat Karney, Manchester's Christmas spokesperson (Great title Pat, you could get a job in Hollywood with that moniker. Ed) said: "What a fantastic start to the festive season. The turnout was amazing - the busiest Christmas lights switch on I can remember and it was wonderful to see so many families enjoying the entertainment. The switch on is, of course, just the start of Manchester's magical Christmas season."
