Challenge Eddie!

Published on November 4th 2004.

BBC GMR breakfast show presenter Mark Edwardson has been challenged to raise £9510 on Children in Need Day (Nov 19th).
Mark's relishing the prospect, but he needs help - and lots of it.
"I've been told that this sum has to be seperate from the usual fund raising activity that goes on for BBC CHILDREN IN NEED. I'm leaving the baths of custard, sponsored walks and skydiving to the experts. I'm hoping I can count on my friends in the business community to help me with my quest."
Mark's challenge will see him set off from New Broadcasting House on Oxford Rd in Manchester straight after the programme at 0900 hrs. From there he wants to visit as many businesses as possible in ten hours. He plans to have cheques to the value of £9510 (the station's frequency 95.1FM multiplied by 100) by seven o'clock in the evening. All the contributors will be thanked on air by Mark during his many appearances in BBC GMR programmes across the day. In addition contributors will get a specially created certificate thanking them for their generosity AND they may even get a visit from Pudsey Bear himself.
In addition, everyone who donates to "Challenge Eddie" will be in with a chance of winning a special prize. One donor will win a race day at the Oulton Park in Cheshire - they'll be taken there in their own personal Lamborghini Gallardo and they will also get dinner, bed and breakfast at the nearby Nunnsmere Hotel.
Mark says, "It's a great opportunity for businesses in Greater Manchester to help kids in their own area. The North West region is a net beneficiary of funding from "BBC CHILDREN IN NEED" so you could say that every pound contributed here goes straight to an organisation helping underprivileged children on your doorstep."If you can help Mark can be contacted at BBC GMR on 0161 244 3024 or by e-mail - mark.edwardson@bbc.co.uk
