Bet mine’s bigger than yours…

Countdown to Christmas just wouldn’t be the same without that all important (and preferably chocolate) advent calendar.

Not one to do things by halves, The Trafford Centre has launched Advent in style with a super-sized calendar designed by local schools. The challenge was for the children to design the windows according to their vision of Christmas in the year 3000!

The number 1 position in the huge futuristic calendar went to Amelia Sandbach, 12, from Altrincham Girls Grammar and the windows will be opened at midday throughout the rest of December, as the run up to Christmas Day approaches!

Competition judge and Director of Operations at the Centre, Gordon McKinnon said: “Here at The Trafford Centre we enjoy Christmas, and what better way of launching the festivities than turning to the children.”

“The entries have been both heart-warming and funny…the predominant theme is aliens, scarily enough, but every entry is deserving of a prize and it seems a great pity there are not a few more days of Advent!”

The Centre has received generous donations of gifts for the schools from retailers, and the grand prize donated by 20th Century Fox – the film distributor for the Odeon - will be awarded to the overall winning window.
