Manchester DJ in the making, Andrew Tierney, has been crowned Bacardi DJ of 2006 by Radio 1 DJ Edith Bowman at the Access to Music ceremony held in London.
Andrew, 20, from Rusholme, scooped the top prize for his interactive online music breaks track ‘House Grips,’ beating over 7,500 other tunes entered into the competition.
As the overall winner, Andrew will join Bacardi DJ ambassadors Krafty Kuts and Pete Jordan, to ‘Live the life of a DJ’ on an all expenses paid trip anywhere in the world.
Andrew said “I never thought in a million years I’d win this competition! I’ve had such fun and now I’m really looking forward to jetting off with Krafty and Pete to see them play!”
All five finalists had their Bacardi DJ track remixed and turned into a white label in a professional recording studio by a Bacardi DJ ambassador. The ambassadors included Marshall Jefferson, Shortee Blitz, Lisa Pin Up, DJ Bailey, Krafty Kuts and Pete Jordan.
As part of his prize, Andrew will also get some brand new Numark iDJ², speakers and headphones, to help him hone his craft.
