A tale of three charity dinners

It must be that time of year. You can’t look at a weekly planner this month without coming across at least one charity fundraiser. Unfortunately, as much as we’d like to, we can’t go to all of them. It’s time to choose your do.

First up, we have the Michelin Chefs Gala dinner, raising money for Springboard. Some of the UK’s finest chefs have come together for this one to create a five course menu with fine wines, at AstraZeneca’s fabulous Watergarden Restaurant, Alderely Park, Cheshire on Thursday 28th September.

Nigel Howarth, Philip Britten and Duncan Poyser will be joined by Eyck Zimmer and TV chef Andrew Nutter to prepare a top class dinner, which will be attended by some of the region’s top celebrities.

Compering the evening will be Manchester Confidential’s very own Gordo, while Peter Paprill ‘The Cheese Detective’ will be on hand to provide guests with some of the finest cheeses on offer.

With an exclusive auction of exceptional prizes and a champagne reception, this black tie event will be the talk of the food and drink industry.

Next up is An Evening with Sir Alex Ferguson and Stuart Pearce in support of The New Children’s Hospital Appeal. The evening, hosted by Ray Stubbs, takes place on the 5th October at Manchester Town Hall’s Great Hall.

The event includes a four course banquet, a champagne reception and the opportunity to put questions to Stuart Pearce and Sir Alex.

Last but by no means least on the Charity Dinner trail today is a Murder Mystery Night aboard the Orient Express, in aid of The Five Stars Scanner Appeal.
This star studded murder mystery event will see guests picked up from Victoria Station by the specially chartered Orient Express Northern Belle, with the journey ending at midnight when the murderer will be revealed.

Stars from Hollyoaks and Coronation Street will be there on the night, playing characters in the Murder Mystery, while guests enjoy a four course meal and fine wines. When the train arrives back into Manchester, guests will have access to the VIP section of the Cocoa Rooms for the after-train journey party.

Proceeds from the event will help fund a £1 million MRI scanner at the new Manchester Children’s Hospital.
