A Penalty Notice… That Saves You Money?

YOU can imagine our bewilderment when, returning to Confidential Towers following a Friday lunch with the abundance to strike down a peckish Yeti, we found a multitude of perfectly legally parked cars all handed a ‘Penalty Charge Notice’.

Ballsy. But it’s the best parking ticket we’ve ever received… mainly because it’s not having us over for £25.

Had the Traffic Warden - or the Executive Select Member of the Council for Administering Penalty Charge Notices or whatever they’re now called – gone stark-raving bonkers? Had they, like a penguin-looking North Korean despot, or Simon Cowell, gone utterly mad with power? Or, had the Council, through an aggressive bout of fund-raising to pay for that strange six ton Father Christmas sat astride the Town Hall, severely upped the traffic warden’s quota?

Well, no. Phew.

Turns out some cheeky gringo from new Mexican joint, Lucha Libre (open Saturday 16 November), soon to be appear at the Great Northern had gone around dishing out money-saving penalty charge notices. The bloody oxymorons.

If you were lucky enough to find one of these brazen and impudent slips of guerrilla marketing you’ll find that you’ve been awarded with a 25% discount at Lucha Libre, or even better, 50% off and a prize draw entry when you take the ticket into the restaurant and tweet a photo of your penalty notice using #vivalucha.


But it’s the best parking ticket we’ve ever received… mainly because it’s not having us over for £25. Arriba.
