Venues Invited To Nominate Themselves For Food Award

THE Truly Good Food Scheme is inviting restaurants, cafes, pubs, canteens, community kitchens (anywhere dishing out good food in Greater Manchester really) the chance to be in the running for an award at the glitzy festival finale of the Manchester Food and Drink Festival 2013 (MFDF) in the Great Hall at Manchester’s Town Hall on Monday 7 October 2013.

Whether you’re already on the list of not, entry is open to any eating establishment in all of Greater Manchester.

Swanky FinaleSwanky FinaleThe Truly Good Food scheme, created by Food Futures in partnership with Manchester City Council, local communities and the NHS (irony anyone) is a specially devised accreditation system for good food operators in Manchester.

The scheme is designed to recognise those establishments committed to providing locally sourced, healthy and sustainable options. See here.

Currently accredited venues include: Yang Sing in Chinatown, Tea Cup in NQ, Greens in Didsbury, Mark Addy in Salford, Trove in Levenshulme and Aumbry in Prestwich.

Whether you’re already on the list or not, entry is open to any eating establishment in all of Greater Manchester.

To enter: In 200 words or less explain why your venue is serving Truly Good Food. Simple as that.

To make it easier, here is a list of the criteria the judges will be looking for:

- Local Sourcing

- Sustainable Sourcing

- Animal Welfare

- Health and Wellbeing

- Staff Training

- Commitment to the Local Community
