VEENO came, they saw and they conquered Manchester. With delicious Italian appetisers and award-winning wines from their own vineyards, it’s not exactly a surprise. Now they’re taking their operation across the Pennines to Leeds. Is this the start of world domination, one bottle of wine at a time?

Veeno opened on Brazennose Street just off Albert Square towards the end of last year, and since then it has gone from strength to strength. Although in the heart of the city centre, it is slightly tucked away with twinkling lights and a cosy, intimate ambience.

Each wine is brimming with its own unique personality

The food, the drink, it all recreates the Italian aperitivo tradition, bringing the convivial customs of Italy – a drink, a bite to eat and good conversation – to Manchester, and soon to Leeds.

Caruso and Minini is the family vineyard that supplies all of Veeno’s wines. With tradition and expertise spanning three generations, they certainly know a thing or two about wine and there is a good selection of wines available at Veeno, both by the glass and by the bottle. Whatever your palate, there is something for everyone, each wine brimming with its own unique personality.

Equal attention is given to the food. It’s all about sharing and importing a bit of that Mediterranean la Dolce Vita to Britain. Choose from a range of spuntini - snack sized portions of Italian cured meats, cheeses and other goodies such as olives, bruschetta and Sicilian tuna.

The same delectable food and drink offering will be available at the Leeds branch when it opens on Duncan Street in the heart of the city centre on Friday 25 July.

The folks behind Veeno are full of enthusiasm about their forthcoming expansion: “We are happy to take our story and our wines to Leeds. We fell in love with the location and the town immediately – it will be the perfect place to relax and enjoy some of the best wines and authentic Italian snacks, our spuntini.”
