Veeno Italian Wine Cafe

Wine from the family vineyard, and a free glass of Marsala for Confidential readers

Published on May 9th 2014.

Veeno Italian Wine Cafe

VEENO is a new wine cafe on Brazennose street, just off Albert Square. It’s warm, welcoming and straight away, it’s obvious it offers something beyond your average wine bar.

Because it's a family operation, they can offer real value for money – this is excellent quality wine at pleasantly refreshing prices

Veeno WineThe main difference is in the quality and provenance of the wine itself, which is all sourced from the Veeno founder's family vineyards in Sicily.

The multi-award winning Caruso & Minini is a 120 hectare estate in between Salemi and Marsala which produces a range of wines from ruby reds with plummy notes to floral whites with enticing aromas of orange blossom and honey.

And because it's a family operation, Veeno can offer real value for money – this is excellent quality wine at very refreshing prices. You can buy your bottle to takeaway. Or better yet, enjoy it at Veeno, either on its own or with some of their authentic Italian food or aperitivo (the Italian version of tapas).

Wine1Lovely light dishes of Piadine – flatbreads topped with such delights as taleggio cheese, rocket and speck – are a perfect snack. Or share a platter of moreish Italian cheeses and cured meats which you can choose yourself from their carefully-sourced selection.

A good time to experience this style of eating is on Wednesday nights when Veeno offers a free Italian buffet, called the AperiBuffet.

You pay £7 for a drink of your choice then enjoy unlimited Italian aperitivo such as cheeses, cured meats, pasta, and freshly-made small dishes. It's a very Italian way of doing things – relaxed, generous, and sociable.

Veeno FoodVeeno is a perfect place to drop in for a light fast lunch or a full evening meal. Food is served all day and it’s open until midnight at the weekend, making it an ideal destination for drinks with friends.

There’s a chilled-out, laid-back atmosphere and it’s easy to chat without having to struggle to make yourself heard above a thudding soundtrack.

If you care about the quality of what you drink yet don't want to spend a fortune on it, you've got to try Veeno. We think you'll be impressed.

And right now, you can enjoy a complimentary glass of their sweet Marsala wine when you visit. To get yours, visit our Veeno pages.
