Chorlton is in for a treat with this one. Electrik's next 'Guestrant' spot, where top chefs take over the kitchen to deliver a one-night-only, three course meal, will be delivered by the duo behind Aumbry.
The food is as good as you'd expect given all that experience. We sometimes go into a little daydream about their sherry triffle. Their black pudding scotch egg starter is another favourite thought.
This Prestwich restaurant is the one of the best things to happen to the Manchester dining scene of late. It's run by husband and wife team Laurence Tottingham and Mary-Ellen McTague who met while working at the Michelin-starred Sharrow Bay then went on to spend four years at Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck. Throw in a stint at Ramsons for Mary-Ellen, and one at London Road in Alderley Edge for Laurence, and you've got the chef CV of your dreams (x 2).
The food is as good as you'd expect given all that experience. We sometimes go into a little daydream about their sherry triffle. Their black pudding scotch egg starter is another favourite thought. And the duck main had Gordo comparing Aumbry to his favourite Parisian restaurant La Tour d’Argent when he reviewed it in November.
If you've not been yet, we can only imagine it's because you don't fancy the trip to north Manchester. In which case, head south on Monday 21 June to sample some classic Aumbry dishes at Electrik bar in Chorlton. Mary-Ellen and Laurence will be preparing a three course meal for £25 per head.
It's bound to sell out, so you need to book ahead if you want to go. Guestrant is a social event – you'll be sat at communal tables so it's a good place for meeting fellow gourmands. Get your ticket at Electrik or email info@electrikbar.co.uk.
