WE'VE HAD this press release from Harvey Nichols. Damn, Stuart was a real asset to Manchester's cooking scene, who cooked with care and panache. He was a good fella too.
'It is with regret that Harvey Nichols announces the resignation of Stuart Thomson, Head Chef of the Second Floor Restaurant, Bar and Brasserie in Manchester.
'Stuart has been part of the kitchen team since 2006 and became Head Chef in April 2009. During this time, Stuart has been instrumental in developing our hospitality business and has worked closely with Michael Currie and his kitchen team to continually produce food of an exemplary standard.
'Stuart will be leaving us in December to join Malmaison in Aberdeen and we would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his contribution to our business and we would like to wish Stuart well for his future career.
'During his time here Stuart has built up a strong brigade in the kitchen and the Restaurant and Brasserie will be managed by Sous Chefs Sam Everett and Matthew Horsfield, who have both been instrumental in the running of the respective dining venues under Stuart’s lead.
'Austin Appleton will continue to manage the pastry department. The ongoing structure of the team will be reviewed after the busy Christmas period.'
