Solita In The Street: Food, Music, Aiden Byrne, Zed Bias

SOLITA is running its festival again this year. One of our favourite dining experiences, holder of one of our cherished Best of Manchester Burgers spots, is opening the doors and invading Turner Street.

Solita chefs will be taking signature dishes on to the street while an Inka barbecue will work its magic on the blacktop.

As with Pride in August and its eighties theme, the Solita show’s got a time travelling ethos. The event is called ‘Back to the old school’ (surely that should be spelt 'Skool') and fancy dress is optional. The staff and owners of Solita will be in school uniform.

DJs this year include radio DJs Gareth Brooks (XFM) and Elliot Eastwick (Unity FM), Old school house DJs ‘Greenbins’ (Bowler’s) and Sankey’s legend ‘Bucky’ along with ‘music legend’ Zed Bias.

Solita chefs will be taking signature dishes on to the street while an Inka barbecue will work its magic on the blacktop.

At 1.15pm chef Aiden Byrne (Great British Menu winner, one time Michelin-starred chef, soon to be Manchester House incumbent) will judge the ‘Chicken Hot Wing Roulette’ competition where entrants will compete a Man v Food challenge.

Byrne will also appear on the decks as guest DJ, along with Confidential’s feasty man Gordo and a food blogger called Hungry Hoss - wow how those humble bloggers keep on rising and rising, don't they?

Fortunately these three are only on for the first half an hour (so no Led Zeppelin tracks with twenty minute drum solos please Gordo) and then the more musical types take over. Gordo and Hoss can then get back to doing what they do best, eating all the food.
