Ramsbottom Chocolate Festival

Chocolate invades the hills on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 March

Published on March 25th 2010.

Ramsbottom Chocolate Festival

Ramsbottom will be holding its second annual choc fest this weekend, with two days dedicated to celebrating all things chocolate. Having got its foodie destination badge thanks to the likes of Ramsons and the Chocolate Café, these establishments will now participate in the festival to feature one-off markets, menus and workshops to tempt adults and children alike.

Here's a sneak peak of some chocolicious events:

Chocolate Dining
The Civic Hall will open its doors for "An Evening with Hot Chocolate", whose title rather underplays the reality of this choc-infused feast. This is the event to find out what gazpacho with 100% cocoa and roast salmon with vanilla and chocolate sauce taste like. It is not an evening celebrating the work of seventies middle-of-the-road pop group.

Ramsons
Also, Ramsons is offering a 9-course tasting menu, with intriguing dishes like scallops with anchovy and chocolate risotto and black pudding and chocolate ravioli. For more click here.

Chocolate Beauty Treatments
Vitality Plus will demonstrate the making of a chocolate tincture, whilst White Rock Hairdressers are doing chocolate-scented spray tans for the those who like a bit of choc with their orange.

Chocolate Market
Stroll and sample quality chocolate and choc-related treats (including beers and wines). Well-known chocolatiers including the famous Slattery's in Bury and the Cocoa Emporium (now based in Afflecks Palace) will be exhibiting.

Ferrero Rocher Guiness World Record Attempt
One small chocolate for man, a giant leap for chocoholics. Current record stands at eight in a minute. Eight contestants will attempt to push the chocolate frontiers. Combining chocolate with spectator sports proved a festival favourite last year so timely attendance is advised. Confidential is sending an ambassador to the event which may or may not look like this.

Warning to any parents who want to bring a buggy....Don't!! Ramsbottom are ill-prepared for the masses unfortunately and last year we found ourselves standing in a shop doorway for the majority of the morning as the flow of traffic and people is just too much for this little high street.
p.s didn't get to see an iota of chocolate and when we went to the 'chocolate cafe' we were told no due to, again, that darn buggy!
