When good weather hits Manchester, it is your civil duty to make the most of it. The terrace at the Malmaison was made especially for this purpose. And it's got a brand new menu for summer, featuring dishes that are perfect for alfresco eating.
The chicken and pancetta skewers (£6.50/£11.50) or Provençal vegetable skewers (£4.95/£9.95) are a summery, BBQ-inspired way to go. Or pretend you're holidaying in the Med with the grilled squid and chorizo (£8.50).
There's also various salad dishes including a hot smoked salmon, watercress and lentil salad with horseradish crème fraiche (£6.95), pasta dishes, and steak sandwiches. Home-made fries with tarragon aioli (£3.50) or Yorkshire Crisps (£2.95) should satisfy the nibblers.
Order yourself a big glass of crisp chenin blanc to sip while you eat (£4-£7.35), or there's Veuve Clicquot by the glass (£9.95) if you're wanting to celebrate something, such as the end of winter.
The terrace at the Mal is perfect for lunch time gatherings or after-work catch-ups. It's cordoned off from the thoroughfare of Piccadilly so you get all the atmosphere with none of the crowds.
The new menu launched on 15th April 2011. A long spell of hot sunny weather is expected soon after.
