More Info About Manchester House Restaurant

Official word on September's fine dining splash

More Info About Manchester House Restaurant

AFTER our sneaky announcement of the Manchester House menu on Monday here's the official Living Ventures' statement about the September opening.

Manchester House is all about pushing the boundaries, delivering our interpretation of fine dining and staying true to that endeavour.

There's a startling sentence in this. Boss Tim Bacon says: 'It's great to be doing something that is not being driven by commerciality'. Wow. If so, that should give chef Aiden Byrne the freedom to fly. Or at least to get everything just right.

All that follows is the press release.

'New fine dining experience, Manchester House Restaurant and Lounge, opens on Tuesday 17 September with a fresh and innovative menu boasting modern British cuisine with a twist.

'Manchester House aims to fill a gap in the market and reflects a long awaited collaboration with Aiden Byrne - the youngest ever chef to earn a Michelin star - to develop a menu designed to delight culinary aficionados but also win further food accolades.

'Aiden who has been experimenting with new menu ideas for the past 12 months, originally found fame as Head Chef at The Commons restaurant in Dublin and has also worked at a number of Michelin-Starred establishments alongside making numerous TV appearances.

'The BBC have also commissioned a documentary following the Manchester House launch and its quest to be awarded a Michelin star to be aired in the Spring of 2014.

'Manchester House will be located centrally on two floors of Tower 12 in Avenue North Spinningfields. The restaurant is situated on the second floor with Aiden and his team on view in an open kitchen at the centre of the action. The 12th floor is a lounge bar with a unique 360 view of the city, floor to ceiling, and includes a 15 meter bar and external terraces.

'Tim Bacon, CEO of Living Ventures (left in the picture above), said "It's great to be doing something that is not being driven by commerciality. Manchester House is all about pushing the boundaries, delivering our interpretation of fine dining and staying true to that endeavour. I want people to come here and enjoy the experience in both the restaurant and lounge in a relaxed environment. I want our customers to feel as if they belong – and if we manage to get a star along the way that would be marvellous."

'Head Chef, Aiden Byrne (right in the picture above) said: “This is a fantastic new challenge for me and my team. We have been very working hard to ensure Manchester House."'

Michelin star steak and ale pie ! ;D

They should have focused on improving the food at every other LV outlet first. What's it going to be like when AB isn't there?

That Tim Bacon chap always looks so serious. Why? Life's good! You're running a successful empire. Some people are never happy.

If it's as good as The Church Green then good luck to Aiden and his team.

“This is a fantastic new challenge for me and my team. We have been very working hard to ensure Manchester House."' Next challenge- learn to speak English. :) (Don't worry Aiden- fully aware that this is just another example of MC's sloppy editors!)

Am I caught up in some kind of culinary Möbius strip? The city's endless joyless pursuit of a flawed Michelin Star. Except this time televised for a wider audience to wince at. Make it stop.

Jeez Polloloco, got a little trouser tent for this place haven't you?! Boddingtons though? What's that Welsh muck got to do with Manchester? Couldn't they have picked a local beer like Lowenbrau? That's what everyone drinks in my local. But seriously, Marble, Hydes, Holts etc... etc.. I suppose they put Manchester tart on there for all the Londoners that came up for Media City to phone their relatives down south and tell them how us Northerners haven't move on in a culinary sense since the War or at least the Miners strike. Maybe it's a tribute/'sticking it to' to the late Lady Thatcher (can't snatch our Manchester Tart now Maggie!!) ..who knows. I like LV venues as a whole but come on, give us a bit of credit. Mancunians can get their head around a more culinarily technical menu than this. ...Maybe it's AB that can't.

By all accounts the food is very good so maybe the boring sounding, cliché'd menu is a bit of a curveball.
